Property Cleanup

If you haven't been up to the Property recently, you should go take a look.

Our new caretaker Chris has done a tremendous job cleaning it up.

Way to go Chris!

Board Nominations

Nominations for the 2009 Board of Directors were held at this months Board meeting.  The ballots will be mailed out in the next few days.

As no one else volunteered (or was volunteered) to run for Recording Secretary, I nominated myself.

Currently no one is running for the position of Corresponding Secretary.

More Work at the Property

Yesterday I went up to the Property to do some more work on cleaning up the campground, and to participate in the Turkey Fun Shoot.

I started the day by loading the last of the trash from where the 5th wheel trailer was taken apart into my utility trailer.  Thankfully there wasn't a whole lot left and it all fit in.

At 9AM I interupted my work to go up to the range and participate in the Turkey Shoot.  The turn out was somewhat disappointing with only 5 shooters.  Phil ran the shoot well and made sure everyone stayed safe.

August 30 Work Party Weekend

We arrived at the Lakeside Sportsman's Club Property Friday evening.  Ted Barker, the Club President, was already there working on his motor home.  We set up camp, and enjoyed a relaxing evening.  From our campsite we could see the tops of the clouds over the Imperial Valley.  After sun set it looked like the war of the worlds was going on over there.  The lightning flashes were near constant.  But, alas, they were to far away to hear the thunder.

We did finally hear some thunder early Saturday morning.

RE: August 16 Work Party

Well, I was up at the Property again last Saturday.  When I got there the old cook shack looked like: When I finished several hours later it looked more like:»

Work party Saturday August 16

Well I'm planning on going to the property on Saturday August 16th.

My plans are to finish stripping the old cook shack down to the frame and seperating out the recyclables.  I'm also planning on putting together a preliminary list of things to work on at the big work party on August 30.

Things I know that need to be done include:

Server Update

I've just completed an update to the software running on the server.

Authenticated users can now post entries in HTML, and there is a WYSIWYG editor for creating content.

Enjoy the new features.

Junk Tailer Cleanup

On Saturday I spent another 4+ hours working on scrapping the two junk trailers.

The big 5th wheel trailer has now been stripped down to the frame and floor. There is a large pile of recyclables sitting next to the frame. I'm looking for a volunteer to take these down to a processor. There are also a couple of piles of small pieces of trash that still need to be picked up and carted off. Anyone want to help with this?

Lansing Companies

Last Saturday (August 2, 2008) Greg Lansing hosted a community meeting at Jewel Valley Ranch in Boulevard.
